About Us

Formerly known as the Hilo Chinese Church
(1896 -  1956)

Founders:  Emma Clark, W. L. Terry, Wong How, Pang Ching, Lai Hip, Tam Tin Pui, Mo Hing Shun, Won Yee, Chun Wuan, Hing Hin Kee, and Mo Hing Shun.

United Community Church was founded as part of a movement of Congregational missionaries who came to the "Sandwich Islands" in the 1820's - the first Christian presence in Hawaii.

Today's congregational Churches in Hawaii are part of the United Church of Christ family-- a progressive Protestant denomination with local churches throughout the United States.

Whether you're new to the neighborhood or new to worship, we welcome you with open arms.
